About Us

Owners. Richard and his daughter Lauren.

Richard was born in New Zealand. As a pharmacist in his mid 30's went to Tasmania for 2 years, stayed 25, discovered skiing and in 1982 discovered Lake Wanaka on a ski holiday.

He 'retired' here in 1996 to operate Bayview Motel, and Aspiring Campervan Park which he built and opened in 2000. Needless to say he is still pondering the word; "retired".

In his own words..."My other passion is photography and in such a visual environment as Lake Wanaka, it does tend to make it easy to take some amazing photographs. "

After living here for 14 years there are still moods, lighting, cloud formations, reflections that never cease to amaze and inspire me. I still think of being able to live here as a special privilege and love sharing all my knowledge with our guests from overseas.

Lauren.

Lauren has been operating motels and other accommodation providers for 6 years while studying business management. She owns her own house in Wanaka and now has a beautiful daughter Amelia who is 24 months old & a little Boy Nixon who is 7 months old. Her passion for tourism and meeting all the fantastic travellers that visit here is amazing.

In her own words...." I just love hearing all their stories and hope one day to be able to travel as much as many of them have. Wanaka has four very different seasons, and although I'm not fond of the colder months I just love the opportunities that my lifestyle offers me.  Being able to tell my stories to guests who stay here, why Wanaka is my favourite place in the world, excites me just as much as hearing from them."

Our other staff come from all over the world. They bring knowledge, different language skills, innovative ideas, have wonderful personalities and share in our desire, that as valued guests, you have a fantastic time while visiting New Zealand.
